Scottish Snooker have once again been invited by World Snooker (Please see letter attached) to nominate 2 entrants for The 2007 Junior Pot Black competition which takes place at the World famous Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, during the 2007 888.com World Snooker Championships.
Last year Anthony McGill done Scotland and himself proud by reaching the final of the 2006 event where he lost on a Black ball!
Scotland's Nominations for this years event is taken straight off the U16 Rankings.
Therefore, current No.1 Michael Leslie & No.3 Jamie Stewart will be our 2 nominated players (Unfortunately Michael Polley No.2 is too old for inclusion to this event).
Disappointing News:
I was both happy and sad to receive the following email from Suzanne Goscombe at World Snooker:
Hi Stephen
Thank you for your email nominating your two players for the Junior Pot Black 2007. After due consideration by the Tournament Committee, we are pleased to confirm that Michael Leslie has been selected. Jamie Stewart has been unsuccessful on this occasion.
Kindly provide me with Michaels full contact details, including email address, so that we may issue the entry form and players information letter hopefully on Monday.
Many congratulations to Michael.
with regards

Michaels results and position at the top of the U16 Rankings merits his inclusion, but I really was disappointed to see that on this occassion, Jamie (Stewart) was not awarded the place. Especially after we where asked to nominate 2 players. It just goes to show that nothing is guaranteed for any nominations and while I offer Jamie my shared disappointment, may I also congratulate Michael Leslie on attaining his position within The 2007 Junior Pot Black Event. It certainly is merited.
Well done Michael. Away and do yourself and Scotland proud.
I am sure everyone within Scottish Snooker will join me in wishing young Michael Leslie every success at what will be a lifetime memory for him, regardless of results.

WSA Invitation Letter
Dear Stephen
During the 888.com World Snooker Championship 2007, World Snooker will again be holding a Junior Pot Black event with the qualifiers taking place on Tuesday 24 April, and the Final on Thursday 26 April 2007. We will send the draw and format with exact timings nearer the time.
The qualifiers will be played at the 'Snooker Experience' in the World Snooker marquee in Tudor Square, with the final being played on the match table in the Crucible and televised by the BBC. This will be a one-frame knock out event, with 8 players competing.
On the morning of the 24 April everyone will be treated to a tour of our new Snooker Academy within the English Institute of Sport - Sheffield.
I would be grateful if your Association could nominate a junior player plus a reserve. Players must be 15 or under on 26 April 2007. Due to age, players must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
World Snooker will contribute a maximum of £50 towards each players travelling costs, and for the two finalist who play on Thursday 26 April, two nights accommodation will be provided for the 24 and 25 April 2007 (twin room).
The two finalists will have a 'free day' on the 25 April, and World Snooker will provide arena access to watch play, together with meal vouchers for the player and parent/guardian.
Kindly submit your nominations with playing CV by 11am on Wednesday 21 March 2007 for our consideration, and we will let you know if your nominated player and possibly your reserve have been selected.
In the meantime should you have any queries please let me know.
May I also take this opportunity of reminding you that the closing date for nominations for the Paul Hunter Scholarship is the end of March 2007,
Regards
Suzanne
