With the exeption of the seniors final on finals day(there was a few good breaks) the standard in the other finals was quite poor i thought. I didnt see any other games as i was playing but i saw the results and there wasn't a lot of other breaks in any of the other finals. Wouldn't it be better if you were to play the championship down to the quarters and on finals day play the quarters, semis and final on the one day. Then whoever got to the final would have had a couple of games under their belt and they might be playing well. Instead they have to go on cold and very few people (hardly any) can play their best in their first match.
What do you think?

Hi Ants,
It's difficult enough organising 5 Finals on one day, never mind another 10 matches on top of that.
I do agree with you that the scoring was pretty weak, but the National Final between Mark Boyle & Richy McDonald, was certainly of a very high standard. Did you watch it? Ask anyone who was there. I'm sure they will confirm this.

I know it was a high standard, i didnt see the match, but I saw the report on the site. But the other players playing on the day were the best in scotland so i would have expected a bit better standard.
Anyway, the finals day is in the masters so surely another 10 matches wont be difficult to fit in, they have a lot of tables in the masters

Ants,
Finals day is "Finals Day"
Not "Quarters" or "Semis" day, just "Finals day".

As for the standard produced on "Finals Day", I think we got what we got, not because of players coming in to Finals without prior matches that day, more that we were exposed to what most of our players produce on average.
I think that should serve as notification, that our game needs to move up a few notches overall, to enable Scotland (and individuals) to compete on International terms with the best that is out there.
I aint Negative when I say what I think about the standard, dedication and application I see within Scottish Snooker (Excluding a handful of individuals!)
Just being realistic and honest.
