Dear Members,
2009 EBOS/EBSA European Junior Billiards Championship

On behalf of the EBSA Board of Directors, EBOS (English-Billiards Open Series) Management Team, and the Belgium Billiards & Snooker Association (BBSA), I have pleasure in inviting you to send players to take part in the 2009 European Junior Billiards Championship.

The 2009 European Junior Billiards Championship will be played over 11th/13th June, at the same venue as the Billiards and Snooker Championships, in Duffel, Belgium. Each EBSA member country is invited to nominate up to 4 players for the European Junior Billiards Championship. Please find an enclosed Junior Billiards entry form, which should be returned to martin.goodwill@e-bos.net. The closing date for entries is 31st May 2009.

An entry fee of €15 per player will be payable to EBOS on registration at the venue, before the start of the Championships.

The prize for the winner will be £100 (€110). In addition, EBOS will award a free subscription to their European Tour for the coming year, worth £200 (€220).

Yours sincerely

Martin Goodwill

If a few of you juniors fancy trying this then the senior die-hards would be more than willing to organise a series of concentrated coaching events to get you up to a level where you could take this on.

You youngsters can pick things up very quickly so don't think that it's beyond you. Or that it's a boring game - once you understand the basics then it will open right up and reveal an exciting engrossing game, albeit not easy. Unfortunately most of it is not intuitive - ie. it's not obvious and goes against what you would think, hence why coaching is essential.

There's lots in Billiards which can improve your Snooker, not only the obvious cue ball control but also "the angles", extreme side/top, the more varied cueing, using the nap, throw, the halfball, etc.

If there's a reasonable interest then we'll get a few sessions booked and I would confidently expect at least two coaches to contribute, including Roy Bacon who actually coached The Rocket.

Get in there mate.

Yes - The old Billiards is a tremendous side of the game that all players should have at least a look at.
Pretty incredible what you can learn from Billiards.
A little bit of basic Billiards knowledge can go a long way if you take it over to your Snooker Game.

It's a fantastic game itself, very enjoyable to play well.
Quick to learn, and a lifetime to Master.

I would love to see all the Juniors and Seniors, get themselves involved with the Billiards lads - they are always willing and ready to pass on their knowledge.
